1 Word Interview with Julie Flanders, Guest Post, and Celebrations

As a newish feature on my blog, I'm hosting a series of guests for "1 Word" Interviews! My hope is to highlight authors and bloggers in super short interviews that will give you a taste of their awesomeness and make you long for more. Then you can follow the links I'll provide and get to know them better through their blogs and books.

Please give a warm welcome to the latest 1 Word Interview participant, Julie Flanders, author and blogger!

1. What's your current favorite word? Aquinnah
2. In one word, what inspires you? Courage
3. What's one word that describes your writing habits? Lazy
4. What's one word that you wish you could get rid of in your writing? Just
5. What's one word that describes your writing desk? Couch
6. Share the best writing advice/tool/quote that helps you. (please limit to one sentence)
“you can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.”- Stephen King

7. What's your current project?

I am working on getting my novel The Ghosts of Aquinnah ready for publication. It will be released in December of this year.

I'm excited to read The Ghosts of Aquinnah after reading so much about the setting and characters on Julie's blog! She's done some serious research. And I love that writing advice and the writing desk as couch! Please visit Julie, and check out her goodreads and amazon pages!

Many thanks to Viklit for hosting this celebration of small things! Every little positive adds up to a grand celebration worthy of fireworks!

My niece asked me to marry her - as in, officiate the wedding ceremony! I'm honored, even if I wasn't first on the list (It's only a week away at this point and she just asked me). After prayer, Biblical study, an e-mail exchange with my Pastor, advice from my Pastor, advice from a friend, a bit of research, and a lot of rough draft writing, I think I'm mentally ready - although the "speech" is far from done yet. Pray for me, please, especially on October 26th.

And I've been interviewed at Stardust and Gravel by Sarah Scheele! Come check it out and enter to win a free copy of Champion in the Darkness or Dragonfold and Other Adventures

Another lazy writer! Awesome.
That's really cool that you will marry your niece. No panic - you'll do great.

Alex - I'm glad I'm not the only lazy writer out there . . . it seems like its hard to keep the habits steady.
And thanks!

That would be a case of nerves for sure. Best wishes for your niece and every kind wish for the ceremony for you too.

A fan of Martha's Vineyard eh? Nice.

Just is very pesky.

I think officiating a wedding would be fun. Best wishes to your niece and her husband-to-be.

Thanks for having me here today, Tyrean! This interview was fun. Wow, how exciting about the wedding. I know you will do a wonderful job.

Oh, I love the one word answers. And "just?" Yeah, that word is pretty much evil. Along with "little" and a dozen others I don't care to acknowledge at the moment. I'm so looking forward to this book!

I'll keep checking back on your guest post - not up yet.

MJ - Thanks! It's exciting but scary too.

Maurice - Yeah.

M Pax - "just" is a painful word, just painful, oops. :) And I think it will be fun too.

Crystal - me too!

Alex - Thanks! I might change a bit in my post because of that.

Yay-- I love Julie. Fun interview. Julie you did well with the one-word responses. I'd struggle to limit myself. (ooo please, just a couple adjectives?)

Tyrean Martinson said...

SK - Thanks!

Madeline - I agree that courage is one of the best words! Julie knows how to pick them.

Julie - Thanks! She did great with the one word responses. It's hard, but I think it makes it interesting.

Great idea for a short but fun interview to get to know people better, although I've known Julie for years. :))

Looking forward to her newest release, too!

Great interview! I use the word just way too much too. I just can't help myself!

That's wonderful news that you're going to marry your niece. Congratulations!

Julie, I don't for one second believe the 'lazy' at all!

Love the quote though, awesome!

Great interview Tyrean, and best wishes on the wedding - how awesome!

Congratulations about marrying your niece, that's great! Best of luck :)

Michelle Wallace said...

The word "lazy" does not make any sense...
Ha! I think Julie threw it in for lack of nailing the correct word...
And best of luck with officiating the wedding next week Tyrean! Congratulations are in order - to you, and the bride-and-groom-to-be...

Julie- I JUST use that same word all the time. :)

Tyrean- Officiating a wedding? What an honor!

Hi Tyrean .. what a great idea - succinct and to the point .. love Julie's answers ... her Aquinnah has a 'je ne sais quoi' evocative feel about it ..

Just - we used to say Just now in South Africa .. sometime when ...?!!

Good luck for Saturday - I'm sure it will be just wonderful .. and what a joy to be asked ..
