Monday Quote and Goals

“Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It's a way of understanding it.”   - Lloyd Alexander

I have to admit, I almost didn't post today. I wondered if I had anything to share . . . and then I decided I would just take a moment, and share my goals, and that cool quote from fantasy writer Lloyd Alexander.

My writing goals this week:
1. Finish print formatting for Dragonfold and Other Tales.
2. Revise 4 chapters for Champion in Flight.
3. Glance at the way I have the poetry collection set up, and daydream about title possibilities.
4. Free-write every day for a minimum of 3 pages.
5. Write "that" article - it doesn't have a name yet - in rough form.

Whew. That might be too much, but I'm going to try and tackle it. However, the story collection and the poetry collection are both projects that mainly entail taking previously written material, giving it a small make-over and then formatting it - should be doable, right?

My exercise goals:
1. Biking 4 days.
2. Dancing 2 days.
3. Stretching for an hour - 1 day - that's probably on Sunday a.m.

My "crazy, real life" goals:
1. Get homeschool lessons all done this week - last week was "halfsies."
2. Make sure my daughters have time for practicing their dances, monologues, commercial scripts, and the "model" walk. (They are going to the Big Apple this summer for a competition.)
3. Start planning for homeschool 2013-2014 year - 9th and 7th grade.

Blogging goals:
1. Visit.
2. Start planning Writer Wednesday interviews . . . let me know if you would like to be interviewed in the comment section. I'm planning on super short interviews.
3. Warn blogger buddies that I will be taking some Mondays off . . . (can I check this one off now?)

What are your goals this week? What do you post on those "no idea" days? And would you like to participate in a super short Writer Wednesday interview?

I'm exhausted just reading your list!
An interview later this summer would be cool.

I'm with Alex-- this is an ambitious list! I love setting goals though-- I do big-picture goals (which I need to revisit, actually) and then weekly and daily. This week's goals are to search out a few new writing projects for the summer.

And I thought my lists were crazy full.

I'm up for an interview.

Great goals, Tyrean. I haven't made blogging goals in a while. Yours put mine to shame!

Alex - I'm not sure I'm going to finish it all this week - but I'm going to try!

Julie - I like those kinds of goals - big, little, and tiny. They help me get tasks done and keep me focused.

Diane - great!

Emily - oh, somehow I doubt that . . . :)

You have a lot of goals, but they are all good ones. I hope they work out for you and you are able to get them all done.

That's a LOT of stuff. Sometimes one day at a time is all I can do...

You know, Tyrean--I really thought that I was already following you! Fixed :) Anyway, great list...sounds like you could dance circles around me :D

Oh, and PS? Thanks so much for joining the 3 Up chain. GREATLY appreciate it!!

Holy, I wish I were as organized as you! Impressive list! My brain isn't very orderly. The only "set" things I make myself do every day is run for 30 min, write what I can, and try to stay sane, LOL! I love your detail though, Tyrean!

That's a big week, but you can do it! I recently cut down on my blogging days and made myself a regular schedule. It's already helped with my stress levels. I would happily be interviewed. I love those little short ones!

Finally! A week where I can state my goals and feel fairly confident I'll meet them.

1. Get ready for vacation.
2. Leave on vacation.

Yup, I think I'll make it this week.

Love the Lloyd Alexander quote.

And you sound productive. I'm looking forward to lots of yard work right now so not so much writing except for my blog posts. And work is super busy so I don't want to stress more than I already am.

Your list made me very tired. I think we all need naps. :)

I'm constantly redoing my blog. Having themes on certain days helps.

Wow, you have a lot on your plate this week! I think I'd get overwhelmed if I had to do so much in such a short amount of time, but that's just because I'm not a good multitasker. Good luck with it all!

Also, love the Lloyd Alexander quote! This is the first time I'm hearing it, but I can't help but agree full-heartedly with it...

Great quote. Our imagination is ultimately made up of our real life experiences!

Very comprehensive list of goals! You rock Tyrean!

The free-writing is one I need to get back to. There was a time when I did a 10minute free-writing exercise every day, even if it was the only writing for that day.
Dancing is a great way to keep fit! I love to dance!

That is quite a list! Mine is similar. We are finishing up our school work for the summer. I love homeschooling but I'm ready for a break! My writing goals include lots of revising and a few short stories.

Jack - me too! I'm on day 2, and I took a short break this morning . . . oops.

Barbara - yes, it is. I'm on day 2, and I'm thinking I may have gotten a bit ahead of myself.

Randi - doubt I could dance circles around anyone, but thanks for the encouragement. I have a tendency to make big lists.

Morgan - haha, organized, me? No, the list thing is my way of trying to make sense of the chaos. And running every day for 30 minutes . . . sounds like a really good thing.

Christine - Cool! I'll get you on my list.

LD - LOVE your list!!!

Natalie - yes, now to put actions to the words. And glad you liked the quote!

M Pax - yes, I feel like my blog just keeps changing, but I think it's a good thing.

Heather - I can't seem to help but multitask - it's just a part of who I am, and I'm glad you liked the quote!

Maurice - I agree. :)

Tammy - sounds like fun! :)

Duncan - great thought!

Michelle - Thanks!!! And yes, dance makes exercise fun! And I have rediscovered free-writing after too many years away from it . . .it feels good to just write without an agenda at least once a day.

Sarah - I'm ready for a break too. there's this grammar workbook waiting to be graded - just by my elbow - I keep trying not to see it . ..sigh. But if I grade it, and keep going, summer will be here soon.

Wow - you can get all that done? Impressive! I'm sure your daughters are totally excited :)

So many goals! If I read some blogs AND do the washing up, I consider it a good day!

PS. I'd love to be interviewed :-)
