Get Healthy Bloghop
Stephen Tremp, Alex J. Cavanaugh, Michael Di Gesu, and L. Diane Wolfe have teamed up for a Blog Hop that focuses on health.
The Objective: Share with everyone something you have done that affected your health in a positive way.
So here are my 3 top tips, followed by a video:
1. Just Dance . . . in other words, just move - no matter how awesome the dance moves are, or anything else for that matter. That's my biggest tip, and the attitude that helps me get moving when I've falling into a sluggish state. Just turn up the music and move . . .
2. Pray before eating. Taking a moment to pray over my food (even snacks) helps me remember to treat this body like a treasure instead of a trash can. (I'm still working on this one, but it definitely makes a difference.)
3. Surround yourself with positive, loving people.
Speaking of which, I happened to know this guy, Dennis Nichols, who recently did a TED talk on healing hearts. He's a heart surgeon, the husband of a beautiful lady-writer named Grace, and the father of eight kids (5 adopted). It's kind of a longish video, about both physical healing (and heart transplants), and spiritual healing (a different kind of heart transplant), but it's definitely worth a watch.
(You might need some tissue though . . . he's a army surgeon who's been deployed in combat zones and he stops mid-talk with tears running down his face)
And if you don't have time to watch it now, bookmark it and watch it later.
And if you just can't make the time, I'll tell you his key note: Love. Love the face in front of you. Love, and make a difference in someone's life.
So, that's my bonus tip: LOVE! (It will keep your heart healthy)

I will be back to watch the video later.
Your body is a temple and you should treat it as such!
Thanks for participating in our bloghop.
Alex - you are so right!
You're welcome!
Dance! Oh yes, I do that... just not so much in public :-)
Prayer is so very important. I like to hike and pray. Its a great time to clear all the junk out and get some exercise, sun, and fresh air.
I LOVE to dance! It's such a life-affirming activity! And prayer as well!

Annalisa - Great! I don't do much of it in public either, but it's still fun to do at home.
Stephen - yes, it is! Sometimes I pray and walk, but usually if I'm hiking I'm with my family . . . and we talk and hike.
Michelle - Yes, they are!
I love TED talks-- they inspire me. I'll have to put this one on my to-watch list. Thanks for the suggestion!
Praying before you eat, slowing down to be thankful. I need to put this in to practice more. Great tip. Thanks.
All great tips! I try to dance with my kids all the time! :)
ps. There's a prize for you on my blog. :)
Great tips! I'll come back to watch the video after I've made the rounds for the blog hop.
There is a lot of power to LOVE. Spot on, Tyrean. I think when our hearts are soft and we're giving and receiving love, is when we want to take care of ourselves and be healthy!
Oh... LOVE... best advice yet. Keeping the heart happy will in turn want us to keep everything else in check. Great post :D
Love your tips! And love is important. We will be healthy longer if we love each other and love ourselves.
I use moving too. It makes me feel good.
I agree, our bodies were a gift to us and equipped with senses to enjoy life both large things and small. I believe in being thankful.
A loving heart creates the attitude happy and thankful and finds joy in life. :-)

Ooh, I love the idea of pre-meal grace getting me in the mindset of treating my body "like a treasure not a trashcan." Will do that from now on. Thanks!
Number 3 is so, so true! I think we forget that positive people help keep us healthy, too. And I like the idea of our bodies as treasure and not trash cans. :)
"Just Move"...some great advice!
Loved all your tips here :)
You're right. It's important to show appreciation even for the little things Tyrean.
We pray before every meal, even if we eat out. We've had more friends thank us for being brave enough to do that, too.
Great tips, Tyrean. So important to get moving. We all sit way too much being writers. I try to walk almost everyday.
It can be way too easy to be sedentary sometimes, so I couldn't agree more with #1! #3 is a must as well. Too many people in this world will try to drag us down, so surrounding ourselves with those who care will definitely help counteract that!
Hi, Tyrean ...
WE SO OFTEN FORGET about the last and final tip...
Beautifully said ...
Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Hi, thanks for sharing - must admit, hadn't thought about love, so important and yet slipped my mind :(

I started an exercise routine by dancing. Dance aerobics remains my favorite workouts. :)
Ah, this is nice! I really like your health tips. Dance, Pray, Love - Sounds like a good name for a book and movie:)lol
"Treasure instead of a trash can" -- I like it! Big fan of Ted Talks; I'll be watching this one.
Great suggestions. TED is wonderful. Another, don't watch the news too much and use music to lift your spirits.
These are great tips to keep up for life! Will check out the video. Thanks a bunch! :)
I love your post!
Thank you and you ended on such a beautiful tip-the best~
:D
Surrounding ourselves with loving people, first time I have seen this on a list. Such a great tip.
