IWSG November: Finding Light in Dark Places

IWSG November: Finding Light in Dark Places

Thank you to this month's wonderful IWSG hosts!

I'm keeping my post brief this month because my family has experienced grief upon grief, losing my dad in September and my mother-in-law at the end of October. I would appreciate your prayers for our family as we navigate this season of loss.

This month's IWSG question asks whether we have favorite themes we explore in our stories. For me, the themes that keep appearing are resilience, finding light in dark places, discovering hope when all seems lost, and finding unexpected strength that is ultimately earned. I think I need to tell myself some of my own stories this month—and let those themes speak into my own life.

Meanwhile, I'm still working on book production and fulfillment for my Dark Blade Trilogy Kickstarter, although the process is moving more slowly than I'd hoped because of everything happening in my family. I also had a frustrating mix-up with a printer that, after considerable investigation, turned out to be user error (I'm blaming grief brain!). But the books will be finished, and the rewards will be fulfilled.

And despite all the sorrow, we are still living! My husband and I are heading to Las Vegas for a wedding, then working on the Capture Crew at Author Nation, and finally, I'll be selling books at Reader Nation. I'm excited! There is still joy to be found, even in a season of grief.

Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement, and patience as I keep moving forward, one step and one story at a time.
