Celebrations and Pictures!

Many thanks to Lexa Cain, LG, and Katie for keeping this hop hopping! And many thanks to Viklit for starting it!

This week, I thought I had one thing to celebrate, then I realized I had two, then three, then . . . well, I kind of sat back and felt surprised at all the amazing blessings in my life.

1. Late Spring Cleaning- not done, but at least started this week! Yay!

2. SUNSHINE with capital bright letters - and heat (not as capital for me).

3. I've walked and/or biked every day for a week.

4. My Summer Vacation Devotions book is ready to go for kindle and lulu. Official release date on Monday.

5. I decided to donate my earnings from the Summer Vacation Devotions book to Peace Rehabilitation Center in Nepal to fight human trafficking.

6. We had a great weekend last weekend at the Ted Houk Regatta in Seattle at Greenlake. (Yes, it's all one word. My apologies to grammar lovers.)

7. The sun blazed down on the races, the wind stayed quiet except for a few hours each afternoon, and several teams from Washington state and Canada competed.

A view of one of the four docks between races.

8.My oldest daughter, new to canoeing by about 8 months, made it into to two individual finals for her age group (getting 7th and 8th out of a field of 15-16 competitors for those races), and placed third in a team C2 boat (two canoers = C2).

9. My youngest daughter, kayaking for 15 months now, took third in all of her individual races in a field of 18 competitors in her age group and took either second or third in all of her team boat races (K2 and K4). She has a serious drive to win and didn't beat her own personal best so instead of celebrating, she was frustrated with her times . . . but I'm celebrating for her and trying to get her to look at the bright side. :) (Because it looks really bright to me.)

(She's going out to the start line in this last one so I actually had a close up view of her from the shore.)

So, I had a huge amount to celebrate this week!

What about you?

Get laundry done? Go to a movie? Read a great book? See some sunshine?

What are you celebrating!

That is a lot to celebrate. Congrats on the new book and what a great cause. It's been hot here too... too hot. Two years ago it snowed mid June.

Wow that sure is a lot to celebrate! Congrats on the book release. It's a bit too hot for me here, but once we put the AC in I won't mind :)

Taking it easy today since we celebrated our anniversary yesterday. I'm celebrating the heat! I love it when it hits 90. What a great physical challenge your girls are taking on. I'm sure you're proud of them.

It's been sunny here but not so hot. We only get about 2 days of actual heat here in a year...it's been nice though :)

Wow! - Snow in June - wild! I don't like it really hot either - it's been about as hot as I like it already this year.

Tyrean Martinson said...

Thanks!
We don't have AC because we don't usually need it here, but I hope you get yours soon. :)

Happy Anniversary!!!

90s! I like the 80s tops with heat.

And yes, I'm proud of them . . . which is probably overly obvious. :)

Sun without heat is perfect! We usually only get a few weeks of heat here - the weather near Seattle is actually very similar to the weather in Britain.

Congrats on your book release and congrats to your daughters on doing so well! Your youngest daughter sounds like my son. He'll win one game and lose two, and only focus on the ones he lost. Getting him to look at the bright side and celebrate his successes has been an ongoing challenge. Have a great weekend!
I also left a comment on your About page. :)

Well, I was going to leave a comment on your About page, but I didn't see a place to leave one, so I'll put it here instead.
I nominated you for the Creative Blogger Award! The award is completely optional, but if you choose to accept, the details can be found at http://lorilmaclaughlin.com/2015/06/12/celebrate-the-small-things-the-creative-blogger-award/. Happy Friday!

Your Summer Vacation Devotions book is a great idea and your donating the proceeds to an awesome cause. Way to go!

Nice pictures, too!

Thanks, Chrys!

Third place is impressive, personal best or not.

Congrats to both your daughters - they did great! (It's funny your younger is more competitive. I usually think of older siblings as being "driven.") Yay for the great weather and your exercise and for your generosity in donating. Have a wonderful weekend! :)

Congrats on the book release, how exciting! And it's wonderful that you're donating the money to the Peace Rehabilitation Centre in Nepal - that's a really great idea.

Congrats on your two daughters doing so well, too. Canoeing must be such a fun activity in the summer -- I haven't gone canoeing in years...
Lots of things to celebrate for you this week -- that's great! I'm back in the UK seeing friends and family so lots of things to enjoy and celebrate. It's always lovely to spend time at home :)

Tyrean, you and your family always seem to amaze me. I sit here like a slug day after day while you're enjoying life. Congrats on your Devotional book and how wonderful to donate the funds to Nepal.

Sounds like you have all been very active this week. Congratulations on your upcoming release. I love that this simple hop makes us reflect and look at the positives - sometimes we can really be amazed by what we have to be thankful for.

Congrats to your kids for doing so well.

It's wonderful you are donating your proceeds to Nepal to fight human trafficking.

This is why I love this bloghop! It forces us to stop for a moment, at least once a week, and remember all the blessings in our lives. I love all your pics...I guess you got to be one proud mama this week!

Tyrean Martinson said...

Thanks, Sonia. I think so, too.

Tyrean Martinson said...

Thanks, Lexa! Both my daughters are driven, but my oldest has about four pans in the fire at once most of the time and she drives herself pretty hard at all of them (canoeing is just newer so she doesn't expect herself to place . . . yet).
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, too!

Tyrean Martinson said...

Thanks, Celine!
Have fun in the UK!!!

Tyrean Martinson said...

Oh, well, I don't know that I don't sit like a slug day after day - my kids and my hubs are super active, and I'm semi-active. We just keep spurring each other onward, and when I write about what everyone in my family does it just looks like a huge amount . . . because there are three people going at full speed ahead, and one mom just trying to catch up. :)

Thanks, Cathrina!

Tyrean Martinson said...

Thanks, Suzanne! I'm always amazed.

Tyrean Martinson said...

Thanks, Diane! I'm pretty proud of them. :)

And, I thought that donating the proceeds might be a nice reminder for myself and others that the human trafficking problem still needs to be fought on multiple levels - law, rehabilitation, and awareness.

Tyrean Martinson said...

Definitely - I didn't do much other than sit in the sun and be amazed last weekend. :)

Such a phenominally awesome cause to donate your earnings to. And yowza, that's a lot of celebrations! Very nice!

I love how you and your family share your love for rowing together. It reminds me of how my 13-year-old daughter and I love softball. We both play together, and even though she's been playing for three years now and is on a tough travel team, I still show her a few things now and then.

My son loves soccer, and although I never liked or played the sport, his natural enthusiasm for it had made me grow to love it. Although I can't really show him any moves in soccer, I've been showing him drills to make him a faster runner which are pretty common across many sports. It helps in feeling like I'm participating, and giving his sport an "equal" amount of attention. :-D

Kayaking looks like fun. I would have loved doing that, but it wasn't a sport where I grew up (despite the massive lake nearby). Congratulations on your book release, and to your daughters doing so well. Lots to celebrate, indeed. :D
