Celebrate the Small Things

Because of my super-busy family, I seem to have lots to celebrate these days.

1. Went to a wonderful ballet recital by Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma - choreographed by my friend, Damaris Caughlan who is an amazing lady who celebrates literature by having her end of the year recital focused on a children's book each year. This year, The Stick, was her choice and the author generously donated some of his earnings from the sales that were made at the event to the MBT scholarship program.

2. An awesome video was posted online with drone camera footage from the Ted Houk Regatta - I highly recommend giving it a watch (it's 2 minutes):

3. My kids are canoeing and kayaking at the Bellingham Regatta tomorrow - and we're getting up at 4 a.m. to get there (I will need caffeine).

4. My niece had a fun baby shower last weekend.

5. My book, Summer Vacation Devotions, is out and earning money for Peace Rehabilitation Center in Nepal to fight human trafficking. Thank you for your support and encouragement on this project!

6. Youth Sunday last Sunday was super fun. My husband and I helped put together the youth video - "So, You Think You Can Disciple?" Please note that if you watch this, you need a sense of humor - and be okay with a girl playing the part of Jesus. It's loosely based on the gospel of Mark and we focused on filming just three sections in three Sundays after the youth scripted out film ideas for the entire gospel.

7. And we've been busy . . . and I'm still trying to exercise, write, and clean out the closets and our super overgrown garden beds . . . whew. I think I'll sleep in on Tuesday (don't ask me why Tuesday and not Monday, but that's the way it works.)

As long as the kids get the message, it doesn't matter how it was delivered. Even delivered by a female Jesus.
Good luck with the early morning tomorrow!

Sounds like you've had lots of good things going on. Good luck getting up tomorrow.

Thank you, Natalie! June is a race to the finish for our family this year. In July . . . we might rest a day or two.

4am? Good luck! Your week sounds busy and a lot of fun :-) Have a good weekend.

Yeah, I know. I'm picking up two more teens on the way there - it will be amazing if we are all awake and on the road at the right time.

You are so busy! Those times with your kids will go by so quick so enjoy the chaos. This is weird, but Tuesday is the day I sleep in too!

Like I've said before, Tyrean, you and your family amaze me!!! Have a great weekend!!

Definitely enjoying the chaos . . . except for the yard - agh. Our blackberries are taking over the whole place.
Glad to know that I'm not the only one who finds Tuesdays to be restful!

Thanks, Cahthrina. I'm just trying to keep up with them. :)

You're the busiest lady I know. I hope your daughters have a fab time at the regatta, and I love the idea of youth writing a screenplay version of the gospel and actually filming it! Maybe there are some budding filmmakers in there. Have a great weekend! :)

A busy week and I hope you guys rock the 3rd Bellingham Regatta! Drones are good for something, but the other day I was at a kid's party with my sons at the park and a drone started flying over us. I admit I got nervous since you never know who's watching. But if they keep using it for awesome stuff like this then I'm OK with it.

Wow, I need coffee (and I gave it up) after reading that. :) Wishing your kids the best at the regatta!

Makes me tired just thinking about all the stuff you're doing. The last big thing I did was work in my garden for a day. Make sure you get some rest.

Wow... my take home message from this post is something along the lines of 'Rhonda, you need to get out more!'

Drones make me a little nervous, too, so I was thankful to see that the video was put to good use.

Yes, I'm a wee bit caffeinated these days.

I rested for 2.5 days . . . and now, I'm back! :)

Tyrean Martinson said...

Well . . . I have a tendency to do nothing, and then my family gives me a whirlwind couple of weeks and then I go back to doing nothing again.

Tyrean Martinson said...

Thanks, Nick! They did well - not as well as they wanted, but well.

Tyrean Martinson said...

Thanks!

Tyrean Martinson said...

It was all fun, but the ballet recital was all audience participation . . . so it was probably the easiest fun for me. :)

Tyrean Martinson said...

Yes, in all of the nice, fun ways . . . that's the best kind of busy.

What a week! Thanks for sharing the videos. Watching the canoes/kayaks arrow through the water like that was amazing, and the Youth Sunday film was creative. I hope the regatta went well and that you did finally get some sleep. I just downloaded your Devotions book. I really liked what I read in the "See Inside" on Amazon and wanted to read more. I'm the packer/driver/control fiend in my house, so the first two devotions definitely spoke to me. I'm looking forward to reading the rest.
