Agitation. 

 

2. In one word, what inspires you?

Everything

 

3. What's one word that describes your writing habits?

Eclectic

 

4. What's one word that you wish you could get rid of in your writing?

That

 

5. What's one word that describes your writing desk?

Unused. For writing, that is.

 

6. Share the best writing advice/tool/quote that helps you. (please limit to one sentence)

Allow yourself to write a sucky first draft.

 

7. What's your current project?

 

Well... This year it's not so much that I have one current project. I'm trying to finish five by next year, so I'm working on more than one: 

 

The sequel to my epic fantasy. 

A high concept urban fantasy

A western

A paranormal dystopian

Spies

Pirates 

And Time Travel. 

 

Seems like I cater to a wide audience.

Now with Darrion growing ever more antagonistic and her friendship with Gawain blossoming, Callan must decide whether to stay in Nordaine—where her secret grows ever more threatening—or go to the elves and uncover the truth about her family before war sets the realms afire.

M. Gerrick (AKA Misha Gericke) has basically created stories since before she could write. Many of those stories grew up with her and can be seen in her current projects.
She lives close to Cape Town, with a view over False Bay and Table Mountain.

I love to Celebrate the Small Things with Viklit and the Celebration crew, so here are my celebrations for the week:

1. Had a tiny, but great, Writers' Workshop on Tuesday night.
2. Emily Ann Benedict gifted me with a preview copy of her newest cozy Christmas novel, The Father Christmas Profession, and I read it in less than 24 hours - it was sweet and wonderful. I highly recommend it!
3. My niece's wedding is tomorrow, and I've got the ceremony ready and the speech written . . . although I might tweak it a bit more.

 I am working on getting my novel The Ghosts of Aquinnah ready for publication. It will be released in December of this year.

My niece asked me to marry her - as in, officiate the wedding ceremony! I'm honored, even if I wasn't first on the list (It's only a week away at this point and she just asked me). After prayer, Biblical study, an e-mail exchange with my Pastor, advice from my Pastor, advice from a friend, a bit of research, and a lot of rough draft writing, I think I'm mentally ready - although the "speech" is far from done yet. Pray for me, please, especially on October 26th.

Celebrate the Small Things: (Thanks to Viklit!)

1. We officially adopted Clyde, the dog my husband found 2 and 3/4 weeks ago.
2. First week of homeschool co-op is done and I'm looking forward to the second week.
3. My oldest daughter's first x-country race is this Saturday.
4. Still biking 3-4 days a week.
5. Revision done on 5 chapters, and journal writing done for three days.

1. What's your current favorite word?

 

Buddy! (It's the nickname we have for our cat, Spunky.)

 

2. In one word, what inspires you?

 

Dreams

 

3. What's one word that describes your writing habits?

 

Sporadic

 

4. What's one word that you wish you could get rid of in your writing?

 

Was (I'm better, but I still fight this word.)

Organized (If I can use two, it would be scary organized.)

I'll go with tool - Dragon's Naturally Speaking program, because I can speak my first draft into the computer without having to type it.

 

7. What's your current project?

 

I'm considering taking four novelette length stories and combining them into one book, Four in Darkness. (Yes, it would lean toward the paranormal.)

 

 I loved Diane's answers, although I admit "scary organized" is not how I would describe my writing area. :) I'm looking forward to reading her new series, and I highly recommend her latest book. To get to know Diane more, check out the info and links below.

Celebrate the Small Things!

School started in our homeschooling house, and so far, so good. :)

IWSG: I am not super blogger

My big insecurity this month is about blogging. I have a confession. I am not super blogger. I will never be super blogger. I will never be able to visit "enough" blogs in one day, or even in a week. I wish I could. I've been through phases when I tried. So, what can I do?

I want to blog with more purpose. I want to visit and leave comments that matter, and not just "nice post" comments. I want to send a few e-mails to bloggers who make my day, or who make me think. 

However, I don't know how to make all this fit into the time I have.

So . . . for now, my short term solution is that I'm going to post less, and visit on post days and days when I'm not posting. I'm going to chuck my regular schedule, and go for posting when I have something to say, when I have a guest, when there's a blog fest that I just can't resist. I'll always be here for IWSG, because I love the awesomeness. I'm also still into Write Club . . . and there are so many awesome things going on that I'm sure that I'll be posting at least weekly.

I really want to do less of me and more of you - the awesome blogger buddies who have supported and encouraged me so many times. Because I am addicted to that crazy place called facebook (my extended family posts there often, so what can I do?), I'll be highlighting more of my fellow bloggers and authors there. I also hope to to highlight fellow bloggers and authors M-F on twitter, and in google plus. So, send me an e-mail if you would like me to give you a shout out on twitter, facebook, google plus, or in an upcoming "1 Word" interview feature, which I hope will at least be bimonthly, starting in September.
