Spring and Summer Goals

It's that time of year, the time for resolutions and goals, and . . .
Wait!
Wasn't that back in January?

Well, I like to re-make my goals at least three times a year: January 1st, Spring/School Ending, Back-to-School/September.

So, this spring/summer, my writing goals are:

1. Finish revisions on Champion in Flight by the end of August.
2. Publish Dragonfold and Adventures in Writing sometime in June. (Any title suggestions are welcome . . .)
3. Write 3 morning pages daily, creatively, with no worries.
4. Write a new short story or poem or article each week. (or all 3 if I'm super ambitious)
5. Keep reading good writing books . . .

My health goals are:

1. Remember my thyroid medication each and every single day, preferably in the morning before breakfast when I'm supposed to take it.
2. Exercise daily, meaning: Cardio and Strength Combo - 3 days a week, Fun Fitness - 3 days a week (biking with family, dancing, fencing, etc), and Stretching - 1 day a week (well, every day but with one day devoted to that)
3. Measure portions of my food. (I can't stand calorie counting, but I think I can handle using measuring cups, etc)

Summer goals:
1. Have fun with family!
2. Relax.
3. Enjoy the outdoors.
4. Large amounts of yard-work, berry picking, and jam making.

Do you make or re-make goals at different times of the year?

  1. You definitely have a set plan for the summer.
I tend to readjust goals whenever needed.

  2. I think it's important to reevaluate your goals during the year. Seasons affect me quite a bit and change my plans.

  3. Tyrean, I'm so glad to have found a sister in the goals evaluation! I totally do this too-- and at the exact same times. I have to adjust my thinking for summer with family in the picture more, but it's all good. I too have set goals for the summer and love that sense of forging forward! (We also share some very similar goals.)

  4. Great goals Tyrean, especially the family one. That reminds me I need to take my pills...

  5. Awesome that you keep setting goals, Tyrean. I'm looking forward to less blogging and more family time (and hopefully more writing) this summer. Glad to see your healthy living goals too. I need to keep on track with those too.

  6. Good for you with the goal setting. I need to be more organized and do this too. Right now, I'm just winging it. But I can't wait for summer to start. That's my time with the girls and I don't have all the school worries.

  7. Excellent! Periodically revisiting goals is a good goal to accomplish.

  8. Ambitious! Nice! I've been working on multiple projects, too. It seems to keep me at it. Soon I well set them all aside to finish the 4th Backworlds, though.

With diet, I make changes I can live with and make them permanent. Over time what you can live with changes... a lot.

  13. Great goals Tyrean!
I've been very neglectful when it comes to physical fitness...
And good to hear about the progress on book 2!

  15. Alex - yes, I do that too, but I like having a plan.

Laura - good to know I'm not the only one. I see sun and I yearn for the outdoors . . .which I then try to make a part of my plans.

Julie - goal setting is great - and I agree - it helps with the forward momentum!

Maurice - Thanks! Glad I could help. :)

Natalie - Thanks! I hope to spend more time with family too over the summer.

jaybird - I set goals and then wing it, and then set goals again. And then wing it. Life is just like that.

    Jeff - Thanks!

M Pax - I like having more projects going on than just one - it seems crazy, but it keeps me going. And I like your thoughts on diet - making one change at a time.

Mark - I definitely try to include fun in my plans.

    Allison - Thanks!

Jack - glad you like it!

Rachna - That is a good way to look at it. Sometimes I don't look back as much as I look forward.

  17. Those all sound like good goals. Measuring food is especially interesting to me. I tend to overeat. I think most people can eat what they want as long as they don't eat a bucket of something. lol
