Back from Being Unplugged

I meant to unplug for a week, but then it went longer. How did that happen?

It went something like this:

(My oldest daughter and my hubby cliff jump from a 10 ft cliff.)

I unplugged to write, then I jumped deep into a four day family trip to Sun Lakes, Eastern Washington with 14 people (family).

Boating, tubing, water-skiing, swimming, cliff-jumping, putt-putt golfing, reading in the shade, and watching a laser light show on the spillway of Grand Coulee Dam are so different than our regular lives that we felt like we went to a whole different place.

A place so different that I actually remained calm when my youngest daughter did this:

That's my 11 year old fearless girl jumping from a 30 foot cliff.

Well, I remained mostly calm. I'm glad that two of her older cousins were with her. I'm not sure that I'm going to survive her childhood. I might just have a heart attack one of these days. Or I might have to work up my courage and join her . . .umm, heights and water? Deep breath. Maybe next year.

I've had my horizons expanded by rest and excitement, and now I'm back to work, ready for writing, ready for blogging, and even ready for the school year. But I don't want to say that last part too loud because I'm trying to soak up every last moment of summer while it's here.

Have you unplugged lately? Had a moment to renew your energy for the harvest season coming up?

  1. It looks and sounds like you had a great vacation, although the cliff jumping into water is a bit scary to watch.

I unplugged from the internet for the most part last week, so it was a struggle to catch up this week. I think I'd rather just keep up. ;)

  2. Sounds like you had a time of refreshing, in spite of your cliff-diving daughter.

    Glad you're back.

I'm going to unplug while our son is home over the Labor Day weekend. He lives 600 miles away and we haven't seem him since March.

  3. Cherie - I agree. I unplugged earlier in the summer, then struggled, then unplugged again . . .maybe not such a good thing to do twice in such a short time.

  4. That was one amazing vacation and the leap was right up there with What Are You Thinking?

My vacation won't come until Oct. and I'm ready. It has been a long summer.

  10. WOW, sounds like major fun! Glad you got to have a great time. Gee...I just realized my hubbs and I haven't really done anything summery and fun all summer. I don't think moving from Oregon to California counts...

Cliff jumping? Yikes!! You can't beat kids for spontaneity...

  13. It looks like you had an exciting trip!

People jumping off of high cliffs makes me nervous, too. Though if I knew how to swim, I'd probably try it. :P

  14. Golden Eagle - Swim, Swim!! Please learn to swim! Sorry for the panic moment there, but I grew up with swim lessons. Even during the years that I had my worst fear of water, I still practiced swimming. Here where I live knowing how to swim could seriously save a life.
And yes, we did have an exciting trip!

  17. Wow! That looks so fun!

Thank you for the comment you left on my post - I was amazed when I read it this morning - is it from something you've already written? I felt like I was right in the middle of a cozy novel. I was so impressed by it and loved the little story you gave me - thank you so much :)
