IWSG November: Finding Light in Dark Places
Thank you to this month's wonderful IWSG hosts!
I'm keeping my post brief this month because my family has experienced grief upon grief, losing my dad in September and my mother-in-law at the end of October. I would appreciate your prayers for our family as we navigate this season of loss.
This month's IWSG question asks whether we have favorite themes we explore in our stories. For me, the themes that keep appearing are resilience, finding light in dark places, discovering hope when all seems lost, and finding unexpected strength that is ultimately earned. I think I need to tell myself some of my own stories this month—and let those themes speak into my own life.
Meanwhile, I'm still working on book production and fulfillment for my Dark Blade Trilogy Kickstarter, although the process is moving more slowly than I'd hoped because of everything happening in my family. I also had a frustrating mix-up with a printer that, after considerable investigation, turned out to be user error (I'm blaming grief brain!). But the books will be finished, and the rewards will be fulfilled.
And despite all the sorrow, we are still living! My husband and I are heading to Las Vegas for a wedding, then working on the Capture Crew at Author Nation, and finally, I'll be selling books at Reader Nation. I'm excited! There is still joy to be found, even in a season of grief.
Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement, and patience as I keep moving forward, one step and one story at a time.
You have been going through a lot. Grief brain is real, I can relate. Family is a big theme in many of my stories. I will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteHope you have some fun in Vegas! You need it!
ReplyDeleteI love the themes in your writing. My heart goes out to you for all the losses you've experienced recently. I'm glad your husband and you are going to Las Vegas. I hope it's healing to spend time together and have some fun.
ReplyDeleteThis has been a dark time for you, Tyrean. I know how painful those losses have been. I hope you find moments of joy and comfort with loved ones to share during the upcoming holiday season.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers and love!
ReplyDeleteHope, light, and strength -- YES. I'm all in for those themes.
I am sorry for your losses in the last few months. It certainly seems like a very hard time and I'm sure 'grief brain' is a thing. The wedding you're planning to attend sounds like just the thing to forget, if only for a little while, all that has happened. The themes in your writing are exactly what I want to read in stories, finding light in dark places.
ReplyDeleteHugs and prayers, Tyrean! It's so hard when grief gets compounded like that. I hope your time at Author Nation brings you joy. And I love your themes, light and hope are things I hope to convey in my writing as well.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers. You have had a lot of loss. I wish I could send a hug in the mail.
ReplyDeletePrayers for your whole family. That you can get anything done is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to read of these losses. Like you, I write about finding strength amid profound loss. Hoping you discover that true-to-life theme now.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry for your losses. Too close together. I just lost two dear friends, a couple, and they died within a week of each other.
