GDPR, a Blogger Privacy Policy, and a Cancelled Newsletter

I'm not collecting data to use. I don't think I've ever done that, with the exception of a few blog hops that I created long, long ago.

However, because of GDPR, I feel like I need to make a few things clear for anyone reading this blog or anyone who accidentally wanders onto my WordPress blog, which I update rarely.

So, here's my little privacy policy.

This blog does not share personal information with third parties nor do I store any information about your visit to this blog other than to analyze and optimize your content and reading experience through the use of cookies.

Users can turn off the use of cookies at anytime by changing specific browser settings.

I am not responsible for republished content from this blog on other blogs or websites. If you follow a link from this blog to another site (when I create links to other groups, blog hops, or news articles), it is your responsibility to check the privacy policies at those sites.

This privacy policy is subject to change without notice and was last updated on May 21, 2018. If you have any questions feel free to contact me directly here:

I sent out one last newsletter and I'm cancelling it for two reasons: 1) With my health a bit wonky, I can't stare at a screen for very long. Getting the the opt-in stuff taken care of for my newsletter was beginning to feel a bit daunting. 2) I have only sent out 5 newsletters in a year. I don't think I have a strong newsletter vibe going. For those who actually signed up for it, thank you for your awesome encouragement and support!

If at any time, I run a giveaway here on my blog, I will try to make it clear that it is an opt-in type giveaway.

This privacy policy will have its own page on this blog from today onward.

What do you think? Have I covered my bases? Have you put some kind of policy into place for your blog or newsletter? Please let me know if I missed something.

I think you did well. I just got that stuff on mine too. I also have not sent out many newsletters, but for now, keeping mine. I think I probably still need to go over my privacy policy again. I have changed stuff about 5 times as I learn it. This is definitely a bit of a headache and time-consuming in just learning and getting it just right.

Hope you are feeling better and your health takes a radical shot to improvement and fully healthy.

Hi Tyrean. I think you did brilliantly. Sorry your health is wonky. I hope you feel better soon.

This whole GDPR stuff is giving me headaches too. Its timing just couldn't be worse. Take good care of yourself.

Juneta - Thanks for the encouragement!

Murees Dupe - Thanks! You, too. :)

I think you covered it!

This is a harder topic for those like you who use their blog as an adjunct to their writing and career. For me, it's yeah, okay. I can't imagine even needing to send out a newsletter. Even I would hit the "spam" button on that, lol! But anyway, sounds good enough to keep me feeling secure. Now, would you do something about the monster in the closet...?

I think I'll have to come back here and get the info to put on my blog too. Yes, don't do the newsletter if you don't feel like it, especially with what you're going through health-wise. Hope you feel better.

Hi Tyrean - just take care of yourself ... all the best and see you around - cheers Hilary

Sorry about the wonky health. :( I've been trying to find ways to stare at a computer screen less, too, so I'm not surprised you decided to end your newsletter to help with that.

And you worded your privacy policy very, very well. I wouldn't have any idea how to put one of those together!
